This month we introduce captivating new locket, featuring a precious Turtle surprise, to our array of animal surprises in the Heritage collection. This collection celebrates our love of surprise whilst showcasing the delicate art of guilloché enamelling and hand-engraving.
The delightful turtle surprise is crafted from 18k white and yellow gold decorated with green lacquer, positioned on amazonite stone, which gives a water like effect. Featuring white diamond eyes, this miniature turtle is encased in an 18k white gold egg-shaped locket, which has been hand-painted with dark green guilloché enamel and set with white diamonds.
Peter Carl Fabergé was renowned for crafting quirky little animals from hardstone as charms and ornaments. Art historians have described these creations as possessing ‘psychologically interpretive aspects’, or human-like qualities. The accentuation of specific characteristics of each subject also gave them distinctive personalities. We follow this through today in our collections of jewellery and objet d'art.
