This Trans Day of Remembrance we’re celebrating Tyra Castillo, the winner of the 2021 Slay Model Search.
We had the pleasure of asking Tyra a few questions in honour of this special day:
- What does Trans Day of Remembrance mean to you?
“Trans Day of Remembrance means a lot to me and especially for my community. There are many trans people who are killed because of violence towards the trans community, and it’s really important to me that we always remember them and continue the fight for justice.”
- How does it feel to have won the Slay Model Search competition? Tell us more about your journey with Slay and how the company has supported you.
“It felt amazing winning the Slay Model Search 2021! I’ve been wanting to become a model for a very long time but being transgender, it’s really hard to become one because of challenges we face in the wider community. I’m so happy that Slay Model Management has given us the opportunity to be seen as models, with the support of management we continue to break barriers in the modelling industry.”

In June this year, we were proud to launch the Colours of Love Yellow Gold Diamond & Sapphire Trans Flag Fluted Eternity Ring. Launched ahead of Trans Pride on 26th June 2021, this vibrant creation is set in 18k yellow gold and decorated with pink and blue sapphires and diamonds, recreating the colours of the trans pride flag. Ideal for stacking, this eternity ring is a fitting symbol of love and unity.
For every Colours of Love Yellow Gold Diamond & Sapphire Trans Flag Fluted Eternity Ring sold between 21st June 2021 and 30th June 2022, we will donate 50% of the purchase price* to the Trans Wellness Center.
Based in Los Angeles, the Center is made up of five trans-serving organisations and provides comprehensive lifesaving and life-sustaining services to transgender and non-binary people so they may thrive as healthy, equal, and complete members of society. Holistic services include primary care, hormone replacement therapy, mental health services, employment readiness, financial literacy, housing navigation, basic needs and legal services.
To coincide with this launch, we collaborated with Slay Model Management, the world’s first trans-exclusive modelling agency based in Los Angeles, on their Slay Model Search, 2021 TV programme, which saw 20 transgender models from around the world compete to win a contract with Slay Model Management.
