To commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, Fabergé has created a crown design for Harrods, in collaboration with their Jubilee displays. Harrods has commissioned 32 leading brands to create unique crown designs, based on a replica of the St Edward’s coronation crown, which will be displayed across the Brompton Road façade of Harrods, from Tuesday 15th May until Friday 15th June 2012. Harrods will also house an exhibition of ballgowns showcasing the world’s finest fashion in a dedicated room.
The Fabergé Jubilee crown was designed from key inspirations behind the Fabergé story and the contemporary High Jewellery collections. The crown’s subtle colour palette, with dusty pastel crystals, set against a vibrant mauve silk, is inspired by the elaborate rooms in the Romanov’s palaces in Russia. The setting of the Swarovski crystals, blended with natural rose quartz, mirror the Fabergé Nymphéa bracelet, set with 4,700 stones individually selected for nuance and tone, reminiscent of an Impressionist painting.
Fabergé has a long standing history with the British Royal family, loyal clients over six generations - from Queen Victoria to HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince of Wales - who have carefully amassed one of the world’s finest collection of Fabergé pieces, including four Fabergé Easter Eggs. The Royal Collection of Fabergé is not only one of the largest in existence, but is also one of the most important.
