Fabergé is proud to reveal a new charitable partnership with the Correa Family Foundation, a non-profit organisation founded by Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa and his family to provide support to childhood cancer patients and their families. Fabergé has designed a limited-edition Essence Rose Gold Butterfly Surprise Locket in collaboration with the Correa family, with 10% of proceeds from the sale of each piece being donated to the Foundation.
There are only 17 of these unique, exquisitely crafted lockets, making them highly sought after. The number 17 was chosen in honour of young cancer victim Cameron Gooch, a huge fan of the Houston Astros baseball team, who, aged 9, was given the honorary player number of 17, as a mark of respect for his brave battle with the disease. Astros player Carlos Correa and his wife Daniella – who together with their family set up the foundation – became close friends with Cameron, before he tragically passed away. And when a butterfly, almost miraculously, landed on Carlos’ shoulder during a game, a symbolism was born.
To Cameron’s grieving parents, this butterfly became a sign of hope that their beloved son was safely in heaven, watching over all his family and friends. Incidentally, a few days after the butterfly appeared, Cameron’s family received a butterfly picture with the poem “As I sit here safe in heaven”, by Hazel Birdsall, which served as confirmation that Cam will always be present for his loved ones and those lucky enough to have known him.
Daniella Correa helped to design the beautiful butterfly lockets with Fabergé. Crafted from 18k rose gold, the iconic egg pendant – a design for which Fabergé has become well known – features a ruby button which, when pushed, opens the locket to reveal a hand lacquered butterfly surprise inside. The butterfly’s orange and yellow wings symbolise the bravery and hope of all childhood cancer patients, and the carefree future they deserve.
“Carlos and I feel privileged to be able to collaborate with Fabergé for a beautiful cause in which we honor one of our angels while benefiting children fighting cancer. We always remember the first time we visited these children thinking we could change their lives, but in reality they ended up changing our lives forever.” Daniella Correa, Correa Family Foundation Vice-President
“Fabergé is very excited and honoured to work with the Correa Family Foundation, having personally been able to witness their incredible work for children and their families going through very difficult times gives us all great hope and faith in the human spirit, now more than ever. I know that many of our wonderful clients will show their support for this admirable non-profit organisation and we look forward to starting a long-lasting partnership with Carlos and Daniella Correa, Dr. Ricky Flores and the whole Correa Family Foundation.” Josina von dem Bussche-Kessell, Fabergé Global Sales Director
