The star-studded Fabergé Big Egg Hunt’s live auction took place yesterday 22nd April 2014 at Sotheby’s New York, fetching a total of $1.6 million USB, with proceeds donated to charities Elephant Family and Studio in a School.

Hosted by Agnes Gund, Mark Shand, Géza Von Habsburg, Bob Colacello, and Suydam Lansing, the Fabergé Big Egg Hunt’s auction also included other high profile guests such as Diane Von Furstenberg, HRH Princess Eugenie of York, Lee Radziwill, Leigh Lezark, Nastia Liukin, Constance Jablonski, Sarah Arison, Elizabeth Kurpis, Alexandra Lind Rose, Clifford Ross, Alexander Gilkes and David Lauren.

Guests including Leigh Lezark chose to wear Fabergé jewellery for the event on the night. Leigh wore the Fabergé Devotion Aquamarine ring featuring an oval blue aquamarine of 29.72 carats and round white diamonds set in platinum and the Charmeuse de Jour ring featuring moonstones and round and rose-cut white diamonds set in 18 carat gold and sterling silver.

36 of the 283 Fabergé Big Egg Hunt egg sculptures designed by artists such as Jeff Koons, Tracey Emin, Bruce Weber and Zaha Hadid were displayed on the 7th floor of Sotheby’s and auctioned through Paddle8 to raise money for the partnering charities, Studio in a School and Elephant Family. The top bid was reached by the Jeff Koons egg sculpture, which fetched an impressive $900,000 USD.

The online auction of the remaining egg sculptures continues through Paddle8, until Saturday 26th April 2014 at 3pm EST.
