FABERGÉ DEBUTS IN INDIA

1 Minute Read

Fabergé, the world’s most iconic artist jeweller, is delighted to honour its historical connection with Asia by showcasing its latest creations - from exquisite jewellery, exceptional timepieces and iconic objet d’art - in India for the first time since the brand relaunched in 2009 alongside Tatiana and Sarah Fabergé, the great grand-daughters of Peter Carl Fabergé. Fabergé is thrilled to introduce the brand to a new and discerning clientele, and to present the meticulous process of crafting superlative works of art and the unique, creative possibilities that Fabergé offers.

India’s illustrious heritage is steeped in the appreciation of precious coloured gemstones, a tradition that stems from the days of the Maharajas, who have inspired the celebration and significance of precious coloured gemstones ever since. Further afield, India holds strong significance in the context of the renowned legacy of Fabergé. The art of special commissions and gift-giving are cherished traditions at Fabergé and such commissions were highly sought after, then and now. In 1903, the Maharaja Sir Pratab Singh Bahadur of Jammu and Kashmir commissioned a multi-coloured gold mounted rock crystal stamp holder by Fabergé, decorated with red and white enamel, and embellished with an exotic snake adorned with diamonds and garnets.

Today, Fabergé continues this legacy as a champion of precious colour, proudly using Gemfields precious coloured gemstones to create jewels that are designed to one day become future heirlooms. Fabergé is delighted to showcase the mesmerising Secret Garden high jewellery collection; it is the perfect portrait of both Fabergé’s superlative craftsmanship and Gemfields exquisite gemstones. The collection comprises an unusual mix of materials including carved hardstone, enamel and gold, where the focus is the extraordinary harmony of shades. The Secret Garden collection is for the modern, confident and eternally feminine woman.

Fabergé is delighted to also present an exceptional array of timepiece collections. Continuing in the footsteps of its founder Peter Carl Fabergé, who employed workmasters (the best artisans in their respective fields), Fabergé today is honoured to work, inter-alia, with legendary master watchmaker, Jean-Marc Wiederrecht of Agenhor Manufacture. Jean-Marc and his team of horological experts exclusively developed new movements for the latest high complication timepiece collections, including the award-winning Lady Compliquée and Visionnaire DTZ, both of which won the prestigious Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG), the world’s most sought-after watch award.

The Lady Compliquée Peacock timepiece, a ‘haute horlogerie’ ladies' watch, possesses even greater significance within India as it celebrates India’s national bird, showcasing a peacock engraved in 18 karat gold at the heart of the watch. The Lady Compliquée Peacock pays homage to the famous “Peacock Egg”, which featured a mechanical peacock, made in 1908 for Russia’s Imperial family.

Fabergé will also be unveiling a unique piece from an iconic collection of objet d’art, in the form of the Fabergé Winter Egg, from the Four Seasons collection; a resplendent series of four one-of-a-kind eggs with jewelled surprises that represent the rebirth of a long-standing tradition of exquisite works of art. The Fabergé Four Seasons Eggs are each set with one of the four most precious gemstones – diamond, emerald, sapphire and ruby – representing winter, spring, summer and autumn respectively. These exceptional creations perfectly demonstrate Fabergé’s unparalleled ability to create bespoke commissions to the finest quality. The art of special commissions and gift-giving are cherished traditions at Fabergé, from a personalised engraving to a truly bespoke creation, in true Fabergé spirit, there is practically no end to the possibilities.

Sean Gilbertson, Fabergé CEO:
“With its penchant for coloured-gemstones and its pursuit of superlative expressions of artistry, Fabergé strikes a deep chord with the customs and cultures of India. The rarity inherent in reflecting individual expressions of inspiration and style, echoes deeply cherished Indian traditions.”

Fabergé collections are available online or in the international boutiques.
