Echoing the language of Fabergé’s earliest masterpieces, the pendant opens to reveal a miniature egg nestled within a delicately crafted “nest” structure. The small inner egg measures 6.8mm x 5.35mm, while the nest is 10.8mm, creating a harmonious composition of forms that celebrates the House’s tradition of surprise and exquisite detailing. The complete outer egg (excluding the bail) measures 20mm in length and 15.35mm in width, making it a refined yet impactful piece for everyday elegance or special occasions. This pendant comes with 18 karat gold diamond-cut cable chain, featuring an additional extender at 44cm for versatile styling. Six diamond collets are placed along the chain at 2.5cm intervals, adding delicate points of light that complement the pearlescent enamel finish.

The Fabergé №1 is a refined interpretation of the historical piece: the first Imperial Easter egg, that came into the world in 1885 and was meant for the Empress, Maria Feodorovna – she who, years earlier, had paused before the work of “a young, yet already fully formed master,” and recognised something bright and uncanny in his hands when she visited the great Moscow exhibition.
In fulfilling the Imperial commission, Fabergé created not a copy but his own refined interpretation of the historic piece. The white opaque enamel covering its shell imitates eggshell, while the yolk within is made of matte gold. Inside it a hen sat, fashioned from multicoloured gold, and within the hen there was a miniature diamond Imperial crown. The final surprise, at the Emperor’s instruction, was a small ruby egg-pendant. The present whereabouts of both the crown and the pendant are sadly unknown.
