There is an age-old belief that gemstones possess healing powers. This is thought to originate from the Ancient Sumerians, who would often use gemstones to make their magical formulas. The Ancient Egyptians also embraced the talismanic aspect of coloured gemstones, using lapis lazuli, turquoise, carnelian, emerald and clear quartz in their jewellery; the Egyptians also valued these gems for their link to protection and health, and believed that to unleash their full healing powers, gemstones should touch the skin. We have continued to embrace the spiritual aspect of gemstones and combined this with our well-known fondness for surprise and discovery. As such, each Colours of Love Gemsation Ring contains coloured gemstones concealed on the inside of its fluted band, enhancing the skin contact of the precious gems.
Each of the gemstones selected for these rings has its own perceived healing properties and spiritual powers, which in-turn can be transmitted to the wearer.

Emeralds are said to symbolise growth, new beginnings, and fertility, and are also the birthstone of those born in May. Green is the perfect colour for this month, which is named after the Roman goddess Maia who oversaw the growth of plants.
The Colours of Love White Gold Fluted Gemsation Ring with Hidden Blue Sapphires is set in 18k white gold. Sapphires are often called the wisdom stone and are believed to focus and calm the mind, while also stimulating concentration. They are the birthstone of those born in September, a month of seasonal change and a refocussing of energy after a long summer.
