In our ceaseless quest for the finest materials we have been working with the rarest mineral in Britain - Blue John. This semi-precious stone is only found in in the depths of two caves near in Castleton, Derbyshire, first hollowed out by the Romans two thousand years ago. Blue John’s elegant name derives from the French bleu-jaune, meaning blue-yellow, which describes the stone’s signature bands of purple and amber. To celebrate the 40th birthday of family run jewellers C.W. Sellors, our London ateliers crafted four collections using Blue John, silver gilt and 18K yellow gold with collection quality diamonds, intricate guilloche and precious glass enamel. This is a limited edition – just 40 Blue John egg pendants, 20 lockets with a hidden surprise, four Objet Eggs mounted in sterling silver and plated in 18k yellow gold and two Objet Eggs mounted in 18k yellow gold. Over 100 years ago Fabergé was crafting flower studies in gold, gemstones, enamel and carved stone so the Blue John pendants exquisite craftsmanship and rarest of materials is part of our long tradition.
