Easter wishes from Sarah Fabergé

A special Easter message from Sarah Fabergé, Founding Member of the Heritage Council and Director of Special Projects.

“At Easter we often think of time with family and friends. Hopefully spring has sprung, and we can enjoy time outdoors, long walks and the natural world around us. Peter Carl Fabergé’s love of nature is often reflected in his work and The Basket of Flowers Egg of 1901 is no exception. Depicting exquisitely crafted wildflowers together with guilloché enamel, trellis work, pearls and diamonds, combinations so synonymous with Fabergé, this egg was originally created for Nicholas II of Russia to present to his wife, the Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, Queen Victoria’s granddaughter. The egg was later acquired by Queen Mary, inherited by Queen Elizabeth II, and today remains in The Royal Collection Trust, of King Charles III.

Naturally, Fabergé today continues to be inspired by our iconic heritage. And DNA from the Basket of Flowers Egg can be seen throughout many of today’s designs. To focus on one example in particular; our Fabergé Heritage Bee Surprise Locket continues the celebration of the natural world: crafted in 18k yellow gold and guilloché enamel, the little bee itself is painted in black and orange lacquer and sits on yellow agate with subtle honeycomb engraving. The outer case features 15 round brilliant-cut white diamonds. For this creation, we are delighted to partner with The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and for every Heritage Bee Surprise Locket sold, we will donate $1,350 to support its Forests and Communities Initiative. You can read more about this partnership here.

On behalf of us all at Fabergé, we wish you a peaceful and healthy Easter.”
