Hand-crafted in Pforzheim, Germany, every egg objet is entirely unique. Limited to ten numbered editions, each egg objet is crafted from 18k yellow gold and hand-painted with black enamel to represent the ebony tree, diospyros crassiflora, that is native to the Congo. The dark exterior of the egg is complemented by an 18k gold ebony leaf wrapping around part of the circumference, with leaves set with responsibly mined Gemfields Zambian emeralds and hand-painted green enamel. The egg is mounted on a green aventurine base, with an 18k yellow gold stand which has been set with emeralds. The egg objet opens to reveal a gorilla, which is native to sub-Saharan Africa, carved from black obsidian, set with two black diamond eyes.\n\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\nPeter Carl Fabergé was renowned for crafting quirky little animals from hardstone as charms and ornaments. Art historians have described these creations – the Fabergé menagerie – as possessing ‘psychologically interpretive aspects’, or human-like qualities.
