These vibrantly coloured jewels, set in white gold with intense coloured sapphires and black opals, in a light and fluid design inspired by Cupola motifs, are composed of torrents of tumbling gems, creating the effect of dappled sunlight on summer gardens. During the hot Russian summers, Saint Petersburg society decamped to summer houses, the grand estates, with fields, gardens and lakes. The colours of the sapphires in these exuberant jewels also reflect the fresh, vivacious, eclectic tones of Russian cloisonné floral enamel work, applied to traditional objects and utensils, like the Fabergé Kovsh.
